Adoption questions

April 13, 2020April 22, 2020 BlakesMama1 Comment

If you missed it, we finalized Everly’s adoption at the end of October! Tonight, I spent an hour on the phone with a Mama who is interested in fostering and open to adoption. I’ve had numerous similar conversations with other parents since Evie joined our family. I thought I would answer some questions we’re asked… Continue reading Adoption questions

We went back and forth on what to do in memory of Blake this holiday season. Last year, we were very successful (thanks to you!) in gathering tons of toys for foster children. Check out Facebook for photos ❤ Over the last couple weeks, a few people have been asking about the plan for this… Continue reading Baskets

We meet

If you missed it, read A baby? first. After we said yes, we told the social worker that we would like to go and see her in the hospital. It only took a couple hours before we were given the go ahead to visit. I remember saying to Jeff in the elevator, “What do we say… Continue reading We meet

A baby?

October 29, 2019 BlakesMama4 Comments

Last September, as I was leaving work on a Friday afternoon I got the email from our licensor, “Congratulations! You are licensed foster parents.” I called Jeff to tell him. All of a sudden after months of preparation, it was today. We were both anxiously excited.  Jeff was going out of town for the weekend… Continue reading A baby?

Introducing…

After 407 days in foster care, 5 social workers, sooo many smiles and a few tears, it is finally official. We are SO proud to introduce our fourth daughter, Everly Joy. Thank you for supporting us, near and far, in bringing Everly into our family. She is, and will always be, fiercely loved.

A couple weeks ago, our little guy moved to a new foster home. Back when he moved in we agreed to be a temporary placement of two months. As time passed, we realized he needed a home for a lot longer than that, which is why he stayed for six months. Due to some bullshit… Continue reading More Loss

Blake’s Birthday

August 4, 2019August 4, 2019 BlakesMamaLeave a comment

We are coming up on, what would be, Blake’s 4th birthday. As you all know, we celebrate Blake as often as we can. What better way to celebrate her than by showing love to those who need it? This year I reached out to our local Children’s Administration office and asked what they might need… Continue reading Blake’s Birthday

Foster Care Awareness

May 29, 2019May 5, 2021 BlakesMama1 Comment

May is Foster Care Awareness Month and I’ve been a complete slacker. I thought I would answer some of the most common questions we’ve gotten to show some of the inside stuff. Not like it’s all super secret or anything, but I definitely thought of foster parents as fantastic superhuman creatures until I became one… Continue reading Foster Care Awareness

It’s been a bit since I did an update on our Baby E and you’ve been asking! This sweet girl is 4 months old now and it’s hard to believe she has been with us that long. She reeeeeally likes to be held, all the time. It took a couple months but now baths have… Continue reading Baby E

Giving Tuesday

November 27, 2018 BlakesMamaLeave a comment

Last night I was putting Kenley to bed when she told me that she wishes Blake was here for Christmas. She said, “I think we should get Blakey a present. What do you think about that?” After more discussion about Blakey not being able to play with something that we get for her, we settled… Continue reading Giving Tuesday
